Pancakes & Pajamas: A New Christmas Tradition {Sponsored by Bed, Bath and Beyond}

I say the same thing every year...how fast time flies during the holidays.  This year has been no exception so I am determined to slow down and take time to focus on what really matters during these last few weeks of 2015!

This year I wanted to create a fun breakfast for my family to enjoy.  Let's be honest, breakfast is not a meal that we eat together often.  During the week my girls (ages 8 and 18)  leave for school at different times so they eat at different times, too.  During the weekend, we usually have sporting events or activities to attend so we eat on the go.  I decided we needed to start a new tradition....and with that "Pancakes and Pajamas" came to be!

With the help of the great people at Bed, Bath and Beyond, I got all the goodies to create a fun and festive table setting.  I picked up a few seasonal items that can be used year after year but I also selected items that I can used throughout the year for different occasions.

Each place setting was adorned with a red snowflake placemat, a Santa utensil holder, individual tart tins filled with syrup and whipped cream, a glass "milk" bottle with a cute, striped straw and a little red coaster to add a decorative touch.

I always like to shop in every section of every store...you never know what you will find!  The little tart tins come in two sizes can be used in so many ways. I spotted them in the baking section and immediately thought of several ways to use them!  I plan on using them again when we decorate cookies and gingerbread houses. They will be perfect to hold candies and sprinkles!  I also used them to hold flameless tea-lights.  I love the scalloped edges and metal finish...it adds a little vintage vibe to the table!

The gingerbread men string lights are probably my favorite thing on this table!  I love that they are battery operated so they can be used anywhere!  I will be using these every Christmas to add a fun touch to our kitchen!

As mentioned above, I bought a lot of items that were not seasonal so that I can use them throughout the year!  The above cake pedestal and Acacia wood server (I picked up 2 of these) will be used frequently!  The possibilities are endless for these items! For our breakfast, they served as a functional and festive center piece!

The second wood server was used for a beverage station.  These adorable ceramic pieces just add a decorative touch and are a cute way to serve juice and milk.

Since we had so much sugar present, I felt the need to balance our meal with some fresh fruit! Ha! This paddleboard serving set was perfect for our fruit bar!

I love this set so much, I cannot wait to use it again for an upcoming college football playoff watching party.  Of course it will be filled with guacamole, queso and salsa for that event!  I have a feeling we will use this set all of the time!

And because Bed, Bath and Beyond has a such a wide variety of products, I HAD to mosey over to the pillow section of the store and somehow those 2 cable-knit, fur trimmed pillows ended up in my cart!  I love the fur edges...they add such a warm touch to our breakfast nook!

Of course I took these photos BEFORE the event because I knew it wouldn't stay like this for very long but that is perfectly okay!  Here is a hint: wait until the kiddos are in bed and set everything up the night before.  Just add the food in the morning and enjoy! This is something we will be doing every year from now on and it will always be a surprise as to what day it will be on!  I hope this is something my girls will continue to do when they have their own families!

What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?

Christmas Room Tour & Blog Hop 2015

Happy Monday, everyone!  Hope you had a relaxing weekend! I have something fun for you today and I am so excited about it!

Today I am sharing my favorite room decorated for Christmas as part of the  Just A Girl Blog Christmas Room Tour & Blog hop!  Today is Day 1 of 5 and the lineup of bloggers is pretty incredible.  I was a little star struck when I saw it!

I decided to share our living room for the tour! We have such an open concept home so it is a room you see right when you walk in the front door.  If you have followed me for awhile,  then you know I am a neutral loving girl!  I love using texture to create interest in a room and I am always on the hunt for unique items!  Our soft gray and neutral color scheme was easy to dress up to create a cozy Christmas living room.  Enjoy the tour...

 The little sleigh was a Home Goods find and one of a few things that are new this year!
I adore these hanging posters from Vol25.  I simply hung them from a metal ladder I picked up from a flea market to bring a touch of industrial into the space!  I added the bells for a festive touch!
 I love the subtle touches of nature that the pinecones, antlers and birchwood candles from Home Goods add!

The marquee sign is from Target a few years ago.  I painted it a soft gray to make it lighten it up a bit.  It is one of those things that will be used every year in some way!

Another look at the sleigh from Home Goods...such a fun, whimsical touch!

We have had this deer for many years!  He tends to travel to a new spot every year!

I bought this nativity set at Kirkland's this year. I had been on the hunt for a nice, neutral set and was so excited to find it!  I used our lantern from Home Goods to create a unique display!  The twinkle lights add a nice ambiance to the space!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  To see more of my home decorated for Christmas, follow me on Instagram!

  Now to continue on the tour,  head on over to French Country Cottage and see what room Courtney is sharing.  For those of you that hopped over from Thistlewood Farms, thanks for stopping by!  To start at the beginning, head on over to Just A Girl Blog!  Enjoy the rest of the tour!

Our New Christmas Tree: {Sponsored by King of Christmas}

Happy Monday to you!  I know it sounds so cliché, but I cannot believe it is Thanksgiving week! I was going to hold off on decorating but we decided to re-organize the attic (after some attic visitors were taken care of) so instead of putting everything back in it after we cleaned it out, I started bringing things downstairs.

This year I ended up getting a new tree.  Long story short, we've had a little pest problem (gross, barf, gag)  in our attic for the past few weeks and I wasn't sure if my old tree that was in the attic had been messed with.  Gotta love living in front of a huge open field full of critters!  About the time the pest guy told me the critters could have gotten into anything that was in a cardboard box, which is where my tree was, King of Christmas contacted me asking if I would like to review one of their products!  Perfect timing!  Good news, we checked yesterday and everything in the attic was untouched so we may just have 3 trees up this year!

I was very  impressed with the selection King of Christmas offers and ended up going with this tree: 8 foot Prince Flocked Pre-Lit Tree

It arrived very quickly and was really easy to get set up.  Honestly, the flocking does cause a little mess as you are putting it up, but it is so much easier to vacuum up then pine needles!  I find that the flocking keeps the needles from coming off.

The first thing I noticed is how full the tree is.  In the past, I have used burlap and ribbon to create a full look but that isn't necessary with this tree.

A lot of times the photos online look better than the real deal, but that was not the case with this tree.  It exceeded all my expectations! Last night, I started "fluffing" the branches and couldn't help but to add few ornaments.  I also started decorating the top so here is the "during" photo...can't wait to share the "after" photo!

If you are in the market for a new tree, I highly recommend King of Christmas!  You can check out all their trees HERE and take advantage of the great sale they have going on right now!  If you order one, I would love to know which one you go with!  I know you will love it!

Friday Finds: {Lidded Storage Baskets}

Happy weekend!  We will categorize this post as a Friday Finds post since I found these last night even though the post had to wait for this morning!  Pass the coffee! ;)

I get asked all the time about the side "table" / basket in our living room and unfortunately, it is no longer available.

 After being asked about it so much,  I decided to do a little searching for you and came up with some great alternatives!  Now, to be honest, mine was around $80 so these are a bit more expensive but I still find them to be priced fairly!  I love how these add texture and interest to any space and are a great alternative to a traditional side table or ottoman!
