Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Cask Lidded Basket}

While strolling through Pottery Barn a few weeks ago, I came across a gorgeous, large, lidded basket.  I immediately knew that I wanted it to use as a side table for sitting area space between my kitchen and living room.  Even though it was on sale, it still came out to be around $150 and that was just not in my budget for a glorified basket!  I went on my way but still really wanted it.  I loved the hardware on it and the details, plus it was something different and different is good!

Fast forward to the next day...I stopped into Tuesday Morning to see what new items they had and couldn't believe what I saw the minute I stepped into the store!  A basket that was very similar to the PB one, only $100+ less!  I grabbed it and the rest is history.  I am still looking for the perfect chair for that area and cannot wait to get that space completed so I can share it with you!

Break the Bank:
Pottery Barn Cask Basket

{Garden Ridge Goodies}

  I stopped into Garden Ridge the other day just because I happened to pass it and had some time on my hands.  It is not very close to my home so it is not a place I frequent a lot.  To be totally honest, I had written it off a few years ago when I went in and found a huge selection of cheap scrubs, children's books and not much else.  Well let me tell you....things have changed!  I am happy to say that they have some great items and I will be making the trip back there a few times a month!  Here are just a few of the items that stopped me in my tracks!

Scatter rugs...these are great to add a pop of color to a bathroom, hallway, kitchen or in front of your doors!  These ranged from $9.99-$19.99 and they had some great colors and patterns!  I grabbed a gray and white chevron one for our back door!

 Hello giant letters...I have never seen letters this large! The picture doesn't do them justice, they are HUGE!  These were priced at $89, which sounds like a lot, but like I said...these are massive!

 I just did a post on industrial metal seating and then I come across these!  They had the best color selection I have seen! These were priced at $34.99 for counter height and $44.99 for bar height...such a great price for these!

 Let's talk chairs...they have a ton of accent chairs priced at $199 with a great selection of prints and styles.  I cannot wait to use these in some of my client's homes!

 I couldn't believe the amazing selection of topiaries.  If you have shopped around for these you know they can get pricey! The one pictured in the galvanized bucket was $29.99 and about 3ft. tall!  I will probably go back and pick up a few to use for spring decor!

 This little tray table caught my eye....driftwood color and industrial metal legs always makes me stop and take a look.  For $49.99 this would be a great accent table.  I almost bought it to create a mini-bar area in my husband's office.  It one of many things that I am considering going back for!

 And last but not least....area rugs! They have some fabulous area rugs! This was an 8 x 10 for $249!   Their selection of different styles, color and patterns was impressive.  Some of them did not look like they were the best quality, but once I dug around a little, I found several that I would recommend to clients!

I cannot wait to go back and see what else I can find!

Storage, storage, storage....I know we can all use a little extra storage for backpacks, coats, shoes and so on! I came across these gorgeous entry locker units awhile back and wanted to share them with you!  I was lucky enough to negotiate a built in unit in our new home, but these would make a great alternative to spending the money on a built in...plus you can take it with you if you move!

Valentine's Day {Easy Teacher Gift}

Hello loves!
On Friday I shared some frugal and fabulous finds.  If you missed that post, you can check it out HERE!  I featured some adorable ceramic canisters, just like the ones that Anthropologie sells...only these are a fraction of the price!  I picked up a few to keep and a few to give as gifts.

Check out all these fun colors...

I grabbed a large, red one to use as a teacher gift for Valentine's day. I used a chalk pen to write the teacher's name on it and filled it with her favorite candy....

I used a clear bag, a chalkboard gift tag (left over from Christmas from the dollar spot at Target) and some twine to wrap it all up....

I think it turned out really cute!  These would make great birthday, Christmas, housewarming and hostess gifts as well! The possibilities are endless...I think I am going to go grab a few more before they are all gone!

Hope you have a fabulous Valentine's day! XOXO

Break and Bank vs. Cheapskate {Rustic Iron Chandelier}

Happy Monday!  Hope your weekend was a great one!

While I was out and about yesterday, I stopped into Restoration Hardware.  Their store is always styled to perfection from the subtle lightning to the outdoor patio area.  I wonder if they would let me live in their store?

I love their lighting, they have some gorgeous option, but the prices are a little high for this girl.  So like I do with everything, I started searching for some look-a-like options for less!  Check out my find!

Break the Bank:
Restoration Hardware Camino Chandelier Extra Small
$695

Cheapskate:
Overstock.com Old World 9 Light Chandelier
$189

While it is not an exact match, it creates the same look for a lot less!
Hope everyone has a great week!!

Frugal Finds Friday

Welcome to Frugal Finds Friday....

Every Friday I will highlight some awesome items that don't break the bank!  This week all my frugal finds were found at one store...one that you might not usually go to for home decor!  I walked into Michael's to get my daughter a few things for Valentine's day and got giddy when I saw what they had....lamps, garden stools, ottomans, accent tables, throw pillows, kitchen decor and even a few mirrors!  I came home with only a few things, but will be going back soon!  The best part....it is all 40% off and  they have a 20% off total purchase coupon on their website!
Link: 20% off coupon!

Look at these goodies!!

Loving these colors!  A few things that caught my eye: decorative measuring spoons, large colored measuring cups, bright colored bottles, and canisters....

Can we talk berry baskets again (you know I love these things)?  These were between $3 and $5!! Seriously, you cannot beat that price!  And these colors....they remind me of the Anthropologie version, only these are a fraction of the price!  Notice the adorable market baskets on the bottom shelf...the possibilities are endless for these!

Another Anthro look-a-like...chalkboard labeled jars in several colors! I bought a red lidded one for my daughter's teacher for Valentine's day! Just add her favorite candy and done....super cute and so easy!

Can we talk topiaries and garden decor....yep, they have that too!

Look at the accent ottomans, accent tables, throw pillows and garden stools...all 40% off!

Well done, Michael's, well done!

So what did I end up with.....

The large and small chalkboard canisters with "mint" colored lids! They look great on my breakfast nook shelves!  I am sure I will go back for more goodies!

Have a great weekend!!

Pretty Things {Ceramic Berry Baskets}

I have been a little obsessed with these ceramic berry baskets since I saw them at Anthropologie a few months ago. I knew when I started collecting items to style my breakfast nook shelves with, I had to include a few of these!

Here they are looking pretty on my shelf paired with a few other goodies.  One day I may use them, but for now they are for looks only! Wouldn't they be great to use for entertaining or gift giving?  Valentine's day is right around the corner...chocolate covered strawberries would be perfect wrapped up in one of these!  Of course, they could just be used for holding fruit in the fridge, but the possibilities are endless!
