Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Leather Barstools}

Long time, no chat!  I took the summer off from blogging but have enjoyed keeping up with everyone via Instagram!  I hope you had a great summer!  We enjoyed ours, but it always goes so fast!  Regardless, my girls are back in school and I am excited to get back to work!

So...let me jump right in and show you some fun finds I came across while sourcing bar stools for a client.  She liked the leather look and she knew she wanted to keep things budget friendly.  Easy enough....here is what I came up with:

Break the Bank:
Link:  Crate and Barrel Lowe Barstool
$299

Cheapskate:
Link: Kirkland's Faux Leather Barstool
$149.99

Another style we considered:

Break the Bank:
Link: Pottery Barn Manchester Barstool
$399

Cheapskate:
Link: Kirkland's Everitt Leather Barstool
$129.99
I just love that Kirkland's has some affordable, yet stylish, options! I think my favorite is the Everitt...I am a sucker for the nailhead trim!

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Reclaimed Teak Console Table}

I received an email from a reader named Heather a few weeks ago asking me to see if I could find a cheapskate version of this gorgeous console table that she had been eyeing for a long time.  While it is beautiful, she just couldn't pull the trigger due to the price tag. Here is what I came up with....

Break the Bank:
Jayson Home Tucker Console Table
$995.00
LINK

Cheapskate:
Joss and Main Candace Console
$366.95
LINK

While it is not an exact match, it is the same style and gives the same look for a fraction of the price!

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Tufted Linen Chair}

I received an email from Linda asking if I had any suggestions for a cheapskate version of the chair below.  I actually had considered ordering two of these chairs a few months back for my living room but ended up finding something perfect at Home Goods instead.  I really do love these chairs though...everything from the tufting to the nail head trim...and they look really comfortable!

Break the Bank:
$800 (on sale)
Link: Cardiff Chair

Cheapskate:
$329 (on sale)

If you do not love the dark legs on the "cheapskate" version, a little paint and some stain will give you the same look of the "break the bank" version...and you save over $400!  That is a great deal!

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Industrial Ladder Shelf]

I have been doing some sourcing for a client's office design board.  She sent me the first photo as an inspiration photo and wondered if I could find something less expensive but with the same look.  Not only did I find one that is a very close match...it is a fraction of the price!

Break the Bank:
$2895
Link: Shipyard Shelving Unit

Cheapskate:
$599.99
Link: Metal Bookcase

While I am always cautious to order something online that I have never seen in person, World Market has a reputation for quality products so I would feel fine recommending this to my client.  Another helpful hint while shopping online is to check the online reviews!  This particular piece does not have any reviews yet, but it is always good to take time to read them if they are provided!

What do you think? Isn't this a great find!

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Glass Lantern Pendant}

I promise I will be posting about other things besides Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate finds, but I have been finding some great items and just have to share!  I have received several emails from readers that purchased the Arch Mirror...I am so happy you all scored that great mirror!  I actually went back and bought one for myself and I LOVE it!

Okay...a few days ago I got an email from Sara asking me to find a cheapskate version of this:

Break the Bank:
Ballard Designs
Link: Small Eldridge Pendant
$149

Honestly, I feel like $149 is a fair price, but that doesn't mean I didn't shop around to see what else I could find.  Sara needed 3 of them to hang over her large kitchen island, so I can understand why she wanted to see what I could find....and I found something pretty great!

Cheapskate:
World Market
Link: Glass Pendant Lantern
$99.99

Pretty great find, isn't it....and the $50 savings doesn't hurt!

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Arch Window Frame Mirror}

Today we are talking about arched "window" mirrors.  I had a sweet reader contact me asking me to find her a "cheapskate" version of Wisteria's Conservatory Arch Mirror and I think I found her some great options!!  Check it out...

Link

Cheapskate:
Lola Distressed Arch Mirror
$179 (sale $129)

Here is another option that is a little higher than the "cheapskate" version, but still a reasonable price for a large mirror!

Arch Window Wall Mirror

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Cask Lidded Basket}

While strolling through Pottery Barn a few weeks ago, I came across a gorgeous, large, lidded basket.  I immediately knew that I wanted it to use as a side table for sitting area space between my kitchen and living room.  Even though it was on sale, it still came out to be around $150 and that was just not in my budget for a glorified basket!  I went on my way but still really wanted it.  I loved the hardware on it and the details, plus it was something different and different is good!

Fast forward to the next day...I stopped into Tuesday Morning to see what new items they had and couldn't believe what I saw the minute I stepped into the store!  A basket that was very similar to the PB one, only $100+ less!  I grabbed it and the rest is history.  I am still looking for the perfect chair for that area and cannot wait to get that space completed so I can share it with you!

Break the Bank:
Pottery Barn Cask Basket
$179

Cheapskate:
Tuesday Morning Lidded Basket
$59.99

Break the bank vs Cheapskate: pretty similar!

Not to shabby for $100+ of savings!

I adore these inspiration photos and how others used baskets in their rooms...
