Weekends are for impromptu porch makeovers, or at least this weekend was! This makeover was one of those things that wasn't really on my to do list, but when I came across this macramé hanging chair from the Better Homes & Gardens line from Walmart, I decided it would be perfect for my porch! After some drilling, some spray painting and some planting, my front porch is an inviting spot that welcomes you when you come over and is the perfect spot for me to enjoy my morning coffee! I am so excited with the way it turned out!
Here is the before look...I love the bistro set but truth be told, those chairs just weren't comfortable.
One day while browsing the Better Homes and Gardens outdoor furniture line for fun, I fell in love with their egg chair! I wanted this chair so bad, but it was just too large for my space. This is what prompted me to want to do something new on my porch, I just didn't know what. I wanted something kind of unique and unexpected, so when I came across the macramé hanging chair, I decided it would be perfect!
Since I have a pretty small space to work with, this chair is the perfect size. Since it hangs, it gives the space a light and airy feel. The macramé weave, pretty tassels and round shape add a whimsical touch. I absolutely love it! Hoping my HOA feels the same and doesn't ask me to take it down!
The great thing about the chair is it comes with the hardware to hang it and the seat cushion! The only thing I had to buy was the chain. I found it for less than $3 at my local home improvement store.
The two darling, outdoor pillows finished off the look and were reasonable priced at under $15/each!

I had a feeling I would be spending lots of mornings out here enjoying my coffee so I decided a small side table was a must. This adorable, textured garden stool was the perfect solution. The subtle design and texture adds some interest and compliments the chair!
If you live in Texas, you know the mosquitos are out in full force so I also picked up the cutest citronella candle. Of course, I had to get one that went with the vibe I was going for. Hopefully this will deter the mosquitos and I can enjoy the space in the evenings as well!

Once I had the porch all styled, it was time to accessorize! Just a few potted plants and some lanterns were just enough to make the space look welcoming!
See those black, fluted planters? Well they used to be brown. The easiest little DIY transformation took place using a can of black spray paint I had in my garage, some chalk rock from my back patio and little dirt! Seriously, the easiest DIY ever and I love how it turned out. I just sprayed the pots black, waited an hour for it to dry, then took some damp potting soil and rubbed it all over the pots to give them an old, distressed look! I finished it off by using the rock to "sand" the edges and on a few spots around the pot. After a quick rinse, I added plants and called it done!
Before: I actually like this color, but wanted more contrast for my space.

Along with the planters, a few pretty lanterns completed the look. At night time they add the prettiest glow. Of course I will probably not leave these out all of the time, but will definitely use them when we are enjoying an evening out front or when I am welcoming guest into my home! When I am not using them out here, I can use them indoors or on my back patio! I love buying things that can be used in a variety of ways.
The white, lattice lanterns came with batter operated candles inside. I love that they flicker and create the prettiest glow! To bring in a little more soft light, I added fairy lights to the black lantern. Aren't they fun?
