I am in the process of designing our guest bedroom. I came across a set of 4 salvaged shutters that I have revamped and will use for a headboard. The headboard pictured here is from Restoration Hardware and I love it....I tried to create the same look and cannot wait to share my version with you all soon!
Here is the design board I created for the room. As mentioned, I made a headboard that mimics this design. I also found a vintage dresser similar to the one pictured for $20, a total steal! I bought a wood and metal step stool similar to the one pictured that I plan on using for a nightstand. I will share a full source list of the items I used when the room is completed.
I am hoping to have everything completed within the next month....check back soon for the big reveal! What do you think? Does it look like a cozy space you would like to spend the night in?

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Reclaimed Teak Console Table}
I received an email from a reader named Heather a few weeks ago asking me to see if I could find a cheapskate version of this gorgeous console table that she had been eyeing for a long time. While it is beautiful, she just couldn't pull the trigger due to the price tag. Here is what I came up with....
Break the Bank:
Jayson Home Tucker Console Table
$995.00
LINK
Cheapskate:
Joss and Main Candace Console
$366.95
LINK
While it is not an exact match, it is the same style and gives the same look for a fraction of the price!

My House {Study Nook Plans}
I haven't done much to the upstairs game room/playroom area of our home because I have been so focused on getting the downstairs done, but the time has come! We moved in a little over 7 months ago and just kind of stuck things places and it is beginning to drive me crazy! Here is the state of the play area....
This photo shows what our "real life" looks like right now...I am looking forward to creating an inviting yet functional space in this area!
One thing that I love is how there is a little step down from the game room that creates a little nook (where the easel is). I knew when I saw it that it would make a really great space for an art/study nook for my daughters. You can see that I have purchased the chairs....the table is on it's way and this is the plan for the rest of the space...

Being that my daughters are 6 and 16, I stayed with a pretty basic design that is appropriate for both ages! I cannot wait to get started and share the "after" photos soon!

Breath the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Metal Pendant Lighting}
I am really loving all the industrial/nautical inspired home decor right now. There are many ways to incorporate the look without making the room look trendy. These lights would make a great addition to any room!
Break the Bank
$139.99 (sale price)
LINK: Harriet Pendant
Cheapskate:
$79 (sale price)
LINK: Nautical Metal Pendant
I actually prefer the galvanized look of the second one better but the first one is gorgeous for a more subtle look! Which one do you prefer?

Break the Bank vs. Cheapskate {Tufted Linen Chair}
I received an email from Linda asking if I had any suggestions for a cheapskate version of the chair below. I actually had considered ordering two of these chairs a few months back for my living room but ended up finding something perfect at Home Goods instead. I really do love these chairs though...everything from the tufting to the nail head trim...and they look really comfortable!
Break the Bank:
$800 (on sale)
Link: Cardiff Chair
Cheapskate:
$329 (on sale)
If you do not love the dark legs on the "cheapskate" version, a little paint and some stain will give you the same look of the "break the bank" version...and you save over $400! That is a great deal!
