Who doesn't love a good before and after? With just a few, easy changes, I gave this kitchen a fun update! The kitchen is the heart of the home. Have you ever noticed how people congregate in the kitchen at gatherings even though there is a whole house to utilize? I love how this kitchen is so open to the rest of the house with the living room on the other side of the island and the breakfast area nearby. There was nothing wrong with it to begin with, but we wanted to transform it so it flowed better with the rest of the house. I went to work using products from the Better Homes & Gardens line at Walmart and the end result turned out amazing!

To bring in some interest and character, I accessorized the space using wood tones and textures. Plants are a great way to add a organic, natural feel and look great in any space. Wood tones, textured planters and a few other touches finished off the look without overdoing it.

When I saw these chairs, I knew they would be a great option to pair with the existing table. They are such great quality and super simple to put together. If gray isn't your color, they also come in more colors!
On the table, I came up with a fun tablescape to add some personality to this area. As mentioned earlier, I love using live plants as decor and when I found the terrazzo planter, I knew it would look great here! The design adds so much texture.

Speaking of texture, how great is this trellis shag rug? Since this space is so open to the kitchen and living area, I wanted to use the rug to define the dining area. The subtle pattern and colors create a nice contrast with the wood floors. You won't believe how inexpensive this rug is, especially since it is such good quality! Linked below...
This makeover was so much fun to complete. I couldn't be more pleased with the end result!
