Cozy Bedroom Refresh: {Sponsored by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart}

This post is sponsored by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart!  I am so excited to be a part of the BHG Live Better influencer network and look forward to sharing ideas, updates to my home and their affordable products with you! All opinions are my own.

This month, we were given the fun task to create a space filled with fun finds, from the Better Homes & Gardens line at Walmart, that sparked a little joy! Their product line truly has something for everyone no matter what style you are drawn to!  I took this as an opportunity to give my daughter's room at her dad's house a fresh new look.  Nothing sparks joy for me more than creating beautiful spaces for my family to enjoy!

Some of you might recall that they faced some trying times last year when a lightening strike caused their home to catch on fire.  My youngest daughter was sleeping in the room where the fire started and luckily woke up to alert her father.  Everyone got out safely but the fire caused a lot of damage.  Fast forward to almost a year later, they are now back in their home and we are grateful to put it behind us! These images are hard to look at but we are so thankful everyone made it out okay....

Since that was the room that had the most damage, I decided it deserved a little refresh!  While it had been totally rebuilt after the fire, had a fresh coat of paint on the walls and great furniture pieces, it  needed the "fluff and fun stuff" to make it feel cozy and welcoming!  That is where the Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart goodies came into play!

I added beautiful bedding, textured throw pillows and a few new decor pieces to give this room a quick refresh.  The final result was a room with a soothing and serene vibe!

For the bedding, I selected this pretty Better Homes & Gardens ruffle edge duvet set.  It comes in three colors and the price was so reasonable!  To add some interest, I paired it with this embroidered quilt and matching shams. I love mixing bedding sets because there are so many ways to style it when you are craving a new look!

Throw pillows are a great way to tie everything together while adding a touch of texture. These faux fur throw pillows and this macrame throw pillow completed the look perfectly!

The next step was to accessories.  I found this rustic wood lamp base and gray tweed lamp shade and knew they would compliment my vintage finds perfectly.  Lamp lighting is a great way to add ambiance to a space and is great for those late nights when you want to curl up with a good book!

Speaking of ambiance, candles are another way to create a warm and inviting feel. This galvanized hurricane candle holder was under $10 and can also be used to hold fresh flowers!  I love selecting decor pieces that can be used in different ways.  If you prefer flameless candles, these LED battery operated candles are a great option!

Above the bed, I created a fun vignette using three galvanized wall pockets.  These are perfect to style with seasonal stems! I cannot wait to change them up for fall and winter...bring on the cotton stems and evergreen sprigs!

This galvanized tray is another item I came across and knew would be great in this room. Though it might not always be styled as seen here, it can be used in so many ways...if nothing else, it will be great to hold snacks and drinks while snuggling up to watch TV.

From the cozy bedding to the cute decor, creating this space brought me so much joy! I know my daughter will love coming home to her very own relaxing retreat!

I hope this post inspired you to freshen up your home with products that bring you joy!  If you are needing just a little refresh, or a total overhaul in one of your rooms, I highly recommend checking out the Better Homes & Gardens line available at Walmart!  They have products that fit everyone's budget in a variety of styles!

Pillow Palooza: {Pillows under $25}

One of the most common questions I get on social media is, "Where did you get your pillows"....

Pillows are such a an easy and inexpensive way to update a room and can instantly change the feel of the room.  Since my color scheme in my home is all neutral, I love using pillows that have texture! They help make the room feel cozy and add interest to the space! I tend to switch mine out with each new season for a fresh update that doesn't break the bank!

Most of the pillows I have in my home currently are from different retailers that I found in store and have owned for awhile.  Since I get asked about them so often, I decided to round up a huge selection of pillows (a few are just covers) for you today!  The great thing about these is that they are all under $25!!

Due to the sources I use, some of these are gone once they sell out so act fast if you see something you like!  It might not be available if you wait!

To shop these pillows, just click on the image and you will be taken to the retailer to shop!

Change is Good: {Simple Updates with Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart}

Today I am excited to share my first project partnering with Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart! I am so excited to have them as a new sponsor and look forward to sharing their products with you over the next year! We have some fun stuff in the works and I am grateful for this opportunity.  As always, any opinions expressed in this post are mine. Thank you for supporting my blog and my blog sponsors!

This month, BHG Live Better wanted me to share how I make my house a home. I have lived in my townhome for just over two years and it has definitely become my happy place.  After a huge life change, a big move, downsizing living space and starting a new chapter, it was important to me for my new home to feel cozy, safe and welcoming.

When I first moved, I kept a lot of items that I had in my old house.  Familiarity was important to me and I was attached to my stuff since I loved the home I left!  2 years later, I am beginning to switch it up a bit and bring in items that define my (always changing) style more.  Whatever that style may be...who knows!  I tend to be drawn to the industrial, vintage vibe mixed in with a touch of farmhouse and maybe even a hint of modern.  For me, making your house a home, means adding your personal style to each space! It means buying things that catch your attention and using them in unique ways.  It means creating a space that just feels cozy and comfortable!

The first switch I made was replacing my dining chairs.  I came across these Better Homes & Gardens metal bistro style chairs and fell in love.  The price was unbelievable at under $100 for all 4, so that made my decision easy!  Once they arrived, I was so impressed with the quality.  I love the modern feel they bring into the space and I know they would look beautiful paired with any style of table!

Another impactful change I made was adding this beautiful shag rug. I love how it defines the dining area in my open concept home.  It was yet another affordable find from the Better Homes & Gardens line at Walmart and the quality is amazing...super soft and doesn't shed at all!  The price was extremely affordable.  If you are looking for a budget friendly way to update a room, adding a new rug is such an easy way!

As mentioned above, I love mixing styles... a boho style rug, industrial metal chairs and a wood farmhouse style table make this space unique and unexpected!

While shopping for those items, I came across so many great accessories and decor items from the Better Homes & Gardens line at Walmart.  Nothing says "home" like creating special moments and filling your home with the people you care about!

Whether it is a big fancy dinner or a small impromptu brunch, the Better Homes & Gardens Live Better line at Walmart  has everything you need to make entertaining easy!  Take a look at all the goodies I found...

This white ceramic pitcher is a decor staple in my opinion.  Of course you can use it to serve your favorite beverage but it can also be used in other ways...add seasonal stems for an instant centerpiece, style it in a grouping  to decorate open shelving or even plant a small houseplant inside to use as a unique planter!  At under $20, this is a great decor piece to invest in!

More wonderful products I used to style my brunch tablescape are this jute braid place mats, these melamine dinner plates, an adorable embossed butter dish, this rustic, acacia cake stand, and simple fringe dish towels.  I love that these products are useful and look so great on the table!

I also picked up this Acacia wood tray knowing it was another great decor staple to have around the house!  Trays are great to use for serving food but can also be used in so many different ways.  Here are a few ideas:

-Use on a bathroom counter to hold towels and soaps or make up and jewelry.

-Add to a guest room bed to hold fresh flowers and sweet treats to welcome your guest with.

-Use on a kitchen counter to create a coffee bar.  Style with mugs, stirs and creamer and sugar containers,

-Use on a coffee table...just add a stack of books, a candle or a plant!

Lots of great uses for this tray!  For this brunch, I used mine as a small coffee prep station. This cream and sugar set was a great addition and allowed guests to serve themselves because we all know how important it is to get just the right amount of cream and sugar!

For me, home is a  place that you can gather with all your loved ones for big celebrations or low key gatherings.  A place filled with the sound of laughter, the smell of yummy food, the sight of those you hold dear and memories being made for a lifetime...

Of course when you aren't entertaining, home should be a cozy and comfy place you find peace and serenity in.  One of my favorite places is this little sitting area in my living room.  I often find myself here relaxing with a hot cup of coffee and a sweet treat...

To make this space even more relaxing, I added this textured striped blanket and this sweater knit throw pillow to the space.  The quality of both of these items is impressive, especially at their unbelievably affordable price points!  Make sure to check out the Better Homes & Gardens line at Walmart of home products if you are needing a quick refresh on a budget!

Creating a Coastal Retreat: {Sponsored by Walmart}

Today I am excited to be partnering with Walmart on this post.  All opinions are my own.  I love working with retailers who provide quality products at affordable prices and Walmart does just that!

We enjoyed a week at the beach in the beginning of June and it was pure bliss.  The beach is my happy place and I am always drawn to the laid back vibes, the calming sounds and the beautiful scenery! It is one of those places I am always sad to leave, especially when I have to return back to land-locked Dallas!

I took that picture on our last day of vacation and am already counting down the days until we go back next summer! Since the beach is a place I love, I thought it would be fun to share some great products from Walmart to turn an ordinary bedroom into a relaxing, beachy retreat! Check out some their great products here: Coastal Bedroom Collection

When I think of the beach, I think of a serene color palette of varying shades of blues mixed with neutrals.  I picture items that bring texture into the room like natural fiber rugs and rattan accent furniture.  Soft, luxurious bedding and pretty throw pillows are perfect for keeping things cozy and welcoming.  To tie everything together, coastal themed decor pieces do the trick and are easy to switch out if you want to change things up as fall approaches.

I am pretty sure I could get some much needed rest and relaxation in a room like this....

As I was browsing Walmart's website, I came across a huge selection of products that would add a coastal touch to any home.  Even if a complete room redo isn't in the cards, adding a few touches here and there can give a space a little refresh!  Check out these great products that will bring a touch of the coast into your home:

Containing the Chaos: {Pantry Organization with World Market}

Happy Thursday!  Today I am super excited to be partnering up with World Market ! They asked me to share some tips and tricks on how I keep my pantry organized!  This post contains affiliate links to items I used, or similar items, and will take you to their website.

I know getting organized can seem like a daunting task, but the good news is, once you get organized it is super easy to keep things tidy!  I like to call my approach "containing the chaos", because that is what it truly is!  It isn't hard, it is kind of fun to do and you will love the outcome!

Here are the steps I recommend:

1. Take everything out of your pantry...yes, everything!  If you have lived in your home for awhile, you might be shocked at what you will find.  I have lived in my home for almost 2 years and while I was giving my pantry a little refresh, I found a few expired things....and some very stale marshmallows! While you are checking dates on things, be sure and throw out anything expired, obviously, but also thing you know you are not going to eat!

2. Sort items into groups...canned foods, breads/tortillas, baking goods, chips/crackers/snacks, cereal/breakfast get the idea.

3.  Clean the pantry...give the shelves a good scrub, vacuum the floor and mop if necessary.  If needed, give it a fresh coat of paint.

4. Measure your space and come up with a plan.  This is a good time to take inventory of what you have in your pantry most of the time.  How many baskets, bins and jars do you need to contain your chaos? Measure the shelves so you know what size items you are looking for and how many can fit.

Side note: I have a huge pantry in my current home but in my last home it wasn't as big.  No matter the size, baskets, bins and jars will help keep things tidy and organized! I promise!

5. Shop...first shop your house and see what you have that you can use.  Any baskets, trays, bins, jars, etc.  Use what you have first, then shop for additional needs.

You will see below that I have a variety of baskets, bins, etc.  I have collected these throughout the years and they all worked great for my space.  I did head to World Market to grab a few new baskets that worked better than what I was using.  Here is the before and after of the small area I updated.  I love the open baskets that allow items to be seen and organized better.

Find these baskets here:
Link: Metal Storage Baskets

6. Get busy...this is the easy and fun part.  Group items together and place them in the bins, baskets, jars, etc.  This is where you figure out what works best for your family.  We are a family of just 2 so what works for us, might not work for your family.  I find that snacks being on the low shelf, easily seen, works best for us and cuts down on the number of times I hear, "mom, I am hungry"!  My daughter can go into the pantry and see all her options easily!

Here is what I did:

Basket 1: bread, tortillas, wraps
Basket 2: chips, popcorn, large bagged snacks
Basket 3: canned foods, fruit cups, boxed items such as mac and cheese
Basket 4: baking goods, cake mixes, etc.
Basket 5: crackers, graham crackers, etc.
Basket 6: catch all...anything that doesn't go into one of the above

similar storage baskets here:

Bin: cereals (remove from box to save space)
Bin: fresh fruits and veggies
Small Bins: all the snacks
Wire Basket: syrup, peanut butter, cooking oil, etc.

Shop metal bins, baskets and crates here:

Jars: more snacks...animal crackers, cereal bars, oatmeal packets, fruit snacks, granola bars, etc...

Shop my glass jars here:
Link: One Gallon Glass Jar
Link: Half Gallon Glass Jar

I also used some glass jars I already owned for flour, sugar, sweetener, chocolate chips, etc...

Shop glass jars and canisters here:

7. Enjoy your hard work!  Having things grouped together and easily seen will help you know exactly what you have and what you need next time you go to the store. Your kids will quickly learn where things go and where to find what they need.  My daughter actually enjoys putting groceries away now because she knows where everything goes! It is so easy to keep clean and organized once you are finished!

You will also see that I have a lot of décor in my pantry.  Luckily, I have a large pantry that can hold my overflow/extra décor pieces.  I also can totally hide things like light bulbs, paper towels, paper plates, seasonal table linens, etc. in all my extra bins and baskets!  This is pretty much the largest storage area in my townhome, so I have to utilize each inch of my space!  World Market has a huge selection of storage baskets and bins to organize any space!  Shop their entire collection here:

Check out these collection for more kitchen storage solutions:

I hope this post inspires you to "contain the chaos" in your own home!  It is a great feeling to walk into an organized home!
